Computation Fire Dynamics (CFD) Modeling
FivePlus delivers advanced Computational Fire Dynamics (CFD) modeling to support performance-based design (PBD), code compliance, and optimized life safety outcomes in complex buildings and industrial facilities. Our experts are experienced in FDS coding and detailed analysis of complex geometries.
We simulate fire growth, Heat Release Rate (HRR), smoke movement, air temperature, radiant heat flux, toxic effects of fire and other fire effects under realistic scenarios to produce defensible, AHJ-ready evidence for design decisions.
Our approach follows NFPA, SFPE, and international best practices and aligns with the local Fire and Life Safety Code.
Our CFD analysis covers
- Design fire scenarios of credible worst cases by occupancy/use, fuel loads, and HRR curves
- Detailed CFD simulations: to analyze fire dynamics, smoke movement, thermal radiation, and structural impact
- Validation of smoke control, suppression, and egress strategies under realistic fire scenarios
- Heat release rate (HRR) analysis, plume dynamics, flame spread, and fire growth predictions
- Radiation and temperature impact assessments on structures, façades, and fire barriers
- Toxic gas and tenability evaluations for survivability under multiple emergency conditions
- Integration of modeling results with smoke control, suppression, and evacuation system design
- Preparation of performance-based design narratives, authority submission packages, and peer-reviewed reports to streamline approval and commissioning
- QA/QC & peer review: transparent assumptions, reproducible inputs/outputs, version control, and traceable results for AHJ/peer review.
Typical Deliverables
- Complete performance-based design reports
- CFD outputs with visualizations of flame, heat, smoke, temperature, and gas concentration fields
- Quantitative analysis of tenability criteria (visibility, temperature, toxicity, radiant heat)
- Comparative evaluations of prescriptive versus performance-based solutions
- AHJ submission documents, authority response support, and commissioning validation
